And, in the case of Jude Law's son Rafferty, that's certainly true - as he showed when he looked the spitting image of his actor father during a night out on Tuesday.
The 18 year-old model was partying at the UK Premiere of Buttercup Bill in Curzon Soho with 49 year-old mother Sadie Frost, with whom Jude split in 2003.

Sporting the same chiseled facial features as his Hollywood hotshot father, he also had the same hairstyle as the 42 year-old.
Meanwhile, Sadie was clearly embracing the warmer weather in a strapless LBD, which she capped with some ankle boots.

Holding each other in a sweet embrace, the pair are certainly close.
But, although he has famous parents, Rafferty is now making is own mark on the entertainment industry - which means he is putting Jude's good looks to good use.
In 2014 he made his catwalk debut for DKNY and was formerly on the books of famous model agency Select.

Rafferty is the eldest child of Jude and Sadie - they also have a daughter Iris and son Rudy.
The couple tied the know in 1997 before divorcing in 2003, however they have continued to remain friends for the sake of their children.
